We denounce the government's police operation
Solidarity to the Syrian refugees!

Late at night of December 14th to 15th, the riot police arrested the Syrian refugees in Syntagma square and violently transported them to the police Department of Foreigners of Attica. This was the government's inhuman answer to their demand.
After falsely reassuring them for days that asylum would be offered to those with a passport or those willing to get one...
After trying to divide them with the Mayor's promises for hospitality to some of them...
After trying to slander their presence in Syntagma by presenting it as instigated by political feasibility...
After their misery was accused as “threat” against commercial business in the center of Athens and tourism!
...Finally, Samaras' government used police repression against those exhausted fellow-citizens, who are in Syntagma for almost one month fighting under huge difficulties, in cold and rain, reaching to hunger strike in order to struggle for elementary rights, after the government's disregard.

The Syrian refugees gathered in Syntagma on November 17th are asking for the legal documents that will allow them to travel to EU countries and live there, if they so wish. A self-evident right that clashes on the directives and decisions of EU imperialists (Schengen and Dublin 3 achievements) targeting at limiting the immigrants' flow towards the EU. A flow created by the imperialist policies: Their military interventions and wars against small countries in order to subjugate them have shed the blood of their people and have destroyed their economies, thus forcing thousands to immigrate in order to survive. Those people become victims of slave traders, they have to go through hell to reach another country and, if they do, they are again prosecuted!
The Greek government obeys the orders of the imperialists and assumes “impossible” the demands of the Syrian refugees. Those who are the victims of the imperialists, especially the US, that have turned Syria and the entire Middle East to a war field. The caravans of refugees and immigrants are subject to savage exploitation from the capital in the host countries, just as in their own home countries. Except if they do not fit, in which case they must be deported, stuffed into concentration camps, eliminated...
Our solidarity and support to the struggle of the Syrian refugees is not only a humanitarian issue. It is also an issue connected to the anti-imperialist struggle against the devastation of entire countries that leads to mass waves of refugees. It is a necessary step to the formation of a mass anti-imperialist anti-capitalist movement of resistance of the Greek people and immigrants against their common enemies.
Freedom to the Syrian refugees
Against the unacceptable conditions of detention and their deportation
Roof and health care for all of them
Recognition as war refugees
Satisfaction of their demands
Legal documents now (documents to travel to Europe or asylum, if they so wish)
Strengthen the movement of solidarity and support
